Description

The automatic retracting full-length running board from AMP Research. In less than 1.3 seconds after opening any door, Powerstep automatically extends down providing a natural 10-12 inch step height. Powerstep automatically presents a step assist low enough for women and even children to easily climb in and out of the tallest trucks. When doors close, Powerstep retracts up and under the truck, flush with the rocker panel, keeping step surfaces free of mud, snow and road grime.

Human factors Powerstep: Designed for real people. Body mechanics and ergonomic research reveal that most truck and SUV step boards are mounted too high and too close to the vehicle to provide a natural step assist. AMP engineers studied people of various heights, weights and ages to determine optimum step heights and extension for vehicle step assists. With its low step height and outward extension, Powerstep equipped pickups and SUV’s are easy to live with every day by everyone in the family.

Powerstep employs a patented multi-link design to achieve its extended range of motion. The Powerstep mechanism goes from fully retracted to fully extended in less than 1.3 seconds after a door is opened. AMP engineers designed-in a “Kinematic lock-out” feature that eliminates strain on the motor and gears when retracted.
